one of the most common things I’ve noticed is people are always looking to get lucky - whether they are business people or creative people or Pharrell & Daft Punk circa 2013 - they’re looking for that “hack” or “trick” or “big break”.

I've had 3+ hour long conversations with a good friend of mine, the late Rogelio Sikander (RIP amigo ❤️), debating whether or not you could replicate success or if you needed to be lucky.

He said you HAD to be lucky to be successful - and this was coming from a guy who was making 400k/yr. WITHOUT working. Something I thought was astronomical at the time.

I told him no f****ng way.

my stance has always been “give me the work, the bad luck, the hardest road possible”.

Why?

-

because the more obstacles you overcome in the pursuit of whatever your goals might be, the more control you have over replicating & future proofing that success.

-

embrace the difficulties and continue the grind through the fire and flames, and when you come out the other side you will be indestructible…

but if you just got lucky, the faintest breeze may blow down your entire “empire”.

like Rogelio saying that there is no way he could get rich again because he'd need to get lucky - while I was saying just wait and watch how i'm in full control.

and then.. if a little luck does come your way it will exponentially amplify the foundation you’ve built the hard way.

so… if there is a finitely distributed amount of luck floating around out there in the Universe, feel free to take my allotment.

I don’t want it.

I don't need it.
